The Center News ~ February 2008
From The Front Office
I feel that I am so fortunate call this area my home. We live in a beautiful, fairly unspoiled area, a small town with a big spirit. I know my neighbors, there’s very little crime, and I know I can rely on local folks to help me out in a time of need. It’s wonderful that in this geographically isolated area we have so many opportunities to live a full and enriching life.
I also feel extremely fortunate to be part of the Community Cultural Center. Do you know that we are equally an amazing part of the north Okanogan? And by we, I mean all of us – I include every CCC member when I say we. You may not know this, but it is not the norm for a community center such as ours to be functioning.
Most community centers are either established by government agencies or by schools or churches. It is highly unusual for a grassroots organization to start and sustain a project like this one. I think our success comes largely from the fact that we are here to serve the public in whatever way we can, and because of that people want to support us in our endeavors to support this area. I think that’s the way small towns are, and so in essence, being in this geographically isolated area; this small town milieu has brought us to where we are today.
Now we have an opportunity to accomplish even more with a new Community Cultural Center building. The better we get, the better we will be. Once our facility is up to snuff, there will be no limits to what we will be able to accomplish. And it’s been you, our faithful CCC members, who keep paying your yearly membership dues, who show your support by attending events, and who simply believe in what we are doing who are keeping this organization alive. So, thanks, and keep up the good work!
Until next time,
River

Thank You! To everyone involved with the CCC’s 13th Annual Talent Show!
From the decorating and set-up crew, to the after-hours clean-up crew, and everyone in between... without you we could not have done it! And, a huge thank-you goes out to the entertaining performers who once again made the show!
Your Ideas Are Welcome
Do you have suggestions as to what you’d like to see occur at YOUR community center? Do you have ideas or visions of something you’d like to do or implement at the CCC? We’re always willing to listen and help facilitate programs for the public to enjoy. You may come and talk with River at the CCC office on Tuesdays or Thursdays, or call 486-1328 and leave a message. We’re happy to provide the venue for something new and exciting at the center, or to help you organize a show or Coffee House or class for the public to enjoy.
