The Center News ~ April 2008
From The Front Office
For those who have not yet heard, The CCC has been awarded $150,000 from a Vancouver, WA based foundation, MJ Murdock Charitable Trust. This makes the third large sum of money to go towards our major renovation project, and this grant comes with “no strings attached”, such as matching funds. We are still looking for another large funding source to complete the project, but certainly we have the means now to keep our workers busy for some time!
You may have noticed a couple of gallon jars in the Center filled with pennies. That’s our Penny-Drive, and next time you come in to the Cultural Center you can contribute, which goes towards our building fund! We’ve already brought in over $50, and hope to continue this one all year. We’re also going to place several around town, so look for them. Let’s see just how fast those dollars will add up, one cent at a time!
I hope you all will plan on coming to the CCC on Friday, May 2 nd , when Alice DiMicele comes to perform. For a preview of her newest music, you can log on to http.//www.alicedimicele.com (I don’t recommend this if you are on dial-up service). Prior to the show there will be a fabulous gourmet dinner prepared by a couple of Seattle based chefs, starting with hors d’oeuvres. Dinner will be $9 and $10 for members and general public, respectively, with children 10 and under being ½ price. Admission to the show will be $7 for members, students and seniors, and $8 for non-members. Children 10 years old and under get in for free. Hope you can make it, because this event promises to be a good one!
Take care everyone, and please be sure to come check out the building progress when you’re in town.

Beginner Belly Dance Class Starts Friday, April 4 th
Explore the power of your feminine side through the ancient art of belly dance. Learn to dance to Middle Eastern rhythms, improve muscle tone and flexibility, increase body awareness and self-confidence while you work out. New dancers will gain a solid foundation; while more experienced dancers can hone their skills. Dancers are welcome to start at any week of this ongoing series.
Classes will be on Fridays, immediately after school, (3-4 pm) and are open to women of all ages and sizes. Childcare at the CCC is available with pre-arrangement.
Please wear comfortable clothing. Skirts or leggings with a scarf tied around the hips will be perfect. Bare bellies are wonderful but not essential. Tops should not be baggy, so that Christy can better assist you in learning proper form.
Classes are $6.50 each; an 8-class punch card can be purchased at a discount for $45.
Contact Christy Wentz with questions or to set up childcare, at ncwentz@hughes.net or 485-1921.
